Snowmen at Night
Ages: 3 to 8
Supports: wh questions, describing actions, inferencing, imagination, seasonal vocabulary, story retelling
Why we love it:
This playful winter story sparks curiosity and imagination. Kids enjoy predicting what the snowmen do while we are asleep, and the detailed illustrations make it easy to practice describing, answering questions, and building early narrative skills.
Try it at home:
Ask, “What do you think snowmen do at night”
Your child can also draw their own snowman adventure to retell the story in their own words.
If You Give a Moose a Muffin
Ages: 2.5 to 6
Supports: sequencing, prediction, cause and effect, early storytelling, verbs, pronouns
Why we love it:
This is one of the most popular books in the series. The silly, energetic moose leads kids through a fun chain of events, from muffins to puppets to costumes to painting, and the predictable pattern makes it perfect for practicing sequencing and early narrative skills.
Try it at home:
Pause to let your child guess what the moose will want next. You can also act out parts of the story with simple props such as muffins, paintbrushes, or little puppets.
Little Blue Truck (Board Book Edition)
Ages: 1.5 to 5
Supports: animal sounds, early vocabulary, rhyme, social concepts, simple story grammar
Why we love it:
The rhythm, animal sounds, and friendly storyline make this a toddler favourite. It is perfect for sound imitation and early vocabulary.
Try it at home:
Pause before each animal sound so your child can fill it in. You can also act out the truck getting stuck and the animals coming to help.
Ten Tiny Toes
Ages: 0 to 3

Why we love it:
This sweet board book works beautifully in routines. Babies and toddlers enjoy pointing to their body parts and joining in with the actions.
